(Returning to the source)
52 (The Dao) which originated all under the sky is to be considered as the mother of (all human beings)them all.
When the mother is (extraordinarily) found, we know what her children should be. When one (just) knows that he is his mother's (exact) child, and proceeds to guard (the qualities of) the mother that belong to him, to the end of his (great) life he will be (surely dispensed)free from all peril.
Let him keep(carry on being) his mouth closed, and shut up the portals (of his nostrils), and all his life he will be exempt from (formidable exertion)laborious exertion. Let him keep(just remain) his mouth open, and (spend his breath) in the promotion(exactly in the furtherance) of his affairs, and all his life there will be no safety(well-being) for him.
The (type of) perception of what is small(itty-bitty) is (the [blanketing]secret of clear- sightedness; the guarding of what (exactly is delicate and soft)is soft and tender is (the secret of) strength([just a secret of] mightiness).

Who uses well his light,
Reverting (exactly) to its ([radix so]source so) bright,
Will from his body ward(unit) all blight,
And hides the (every) unchanging from men's sight.

(Increase of evidence)
53 If I were suddenly to (turn into)become known, and (put into a position to) conduct(bearing) (a government) according to the Great(expansive) Dao, what I should be (just almost all scared stiff)most afraid of would be a boastful (and extreme) display.
The great Dao (or way) is very level and easy; but (human beings)people love the by-ways.
Their court(-[institutions]yards and buildings) shall be well kept, but (exactly their meadows)their fields shall be ill-cultivated, and their granaries(major barns) very empty. They shall wear elegant(extra stylish) and ornamented robes, carry(bring) a sharp sword at their girdle(exactly at their waistband) , pamper(baby) themselves in eating and drinking, and have a (excess of wherewithal and property)superabundance of property and wealth; - such (princes) may be called(just be named) robbers and boasters. This is contrary to the Dao surely!
