2. May 2008, Ziyi Zhang claimed the establishment of “Ziyi Zhang Foundation” and raised money for wenchuan earthquake at Cannes Film Festival, earmarked for the Chinese Red Cross Foundation. Per press, she also held another fund-raising event at NY and Hollywood afterward. She raised in total $2,000,000 (cited from Zhang's fiance, multi-millionaire Vivi Nevo) to $5,000,000 (a)
3. June 2008, Ziyi Zhang returned to China for Shanghai Film Festival, and stated that “talk to related government department to ensure the good use of $1,000,000 she raised from Cannes” in a TV interview (b)
4. Ziyi Zhang Foundation was established at Nov 2008, expired at May 2009. During the time, there was only $45,471 deposited in the foundation. (c )
5. January 2010, Chinese Internet surfers pointed out the fact that the money above had not been seen in earthquake relief efforts
6. January 2010, Ziyi Zhang made a public statement and claimed that most of donators at Cannes Film Festivals pledged but had not donated the money.She also stated that she was working with CFC (Care for Children) on “Deyang Resources Center” project. (d)
7. Her manager Ji Ling Ling told Chinese reporters on Tuesday that " will be released by the end of the week" (Feb 3th, 2010). The promised details have yet to be released till Feb 6th, 2010) (e)
8. February 2010, CFC make statement that Ziyi Zhang will donate $40,000 to their “Deyang Children Resource Center” project which local authority has not approved of. (f)
9. February 6, 2010, Zhang’s agent Ji Lingling had an interview with press and confirmed that Zhang only raised $40,000 in a bank account – did not confirm that the money was in Foundation account or personal account (Foundation expired at May 2009 and only had an income of $45,471). This $40,000 still have not been donated to any earthquake related relief efforts till February 6, 2010. (g)
The questions we raised:
1. Is it illegal to hold fund-raising events before the foundation has been established?
2. Ziyi Zhang confirmed that raised $1,000,000 at 2008. Did she lie?
3. Two weeks passing, why she still couldn't provide any proof that prove her innocence?
4. Regardless of the amount of the money she raised, why the money was not transferred to her foundation, and still had not been used for Chinese earthquake relief?
5. Did she evade taxes in US or China by pretending to do charities?
6. Why Vivi Nevo’s friend alleged that the money was channeled into Zhang’s personal overseas account? Did he lie?

The Ziyi Zhang Foundation makes a significant financial contribution to towards Care for Children's ongoing earthquake relief work in Si Chuan.
Care for Children's training and resource centre in De Yang, Si Chuan received great financial support from Chinese actress, Ms. Zhang Ziyi and the Ziyi Zhang Foundation.
Care for Children was one of the first international NGOs on the scene to help with various relief efforts following the devastating earthquake in Si Chuan in May 2008. As part of a long-term commitment to support child welfare development in the region, Care for Children agreed to fund a re-building project in the city of De Yang.
The project plans are for a training and resource centre for the management and development of foster care, special education needs, and support for street children in the region. The project plans received local government approval in April 2009, following which Care for Children made an initial deposit of RMB 1,500,000. In November 2009, the project received national approval from the City Planning & Construction Bureau.
(However,according to local authority of De Yang, there is no project in relation to CFC which has been approved.Through some netizens' investigation,they found that CFC had something to do with local children's welfare institutions.But the latter said that they just planed to request a permission from local authority.)
Tenders to contractors have been submitted, and construction work will commence following Chinese New Year holiday period, 2010.
（This suggests that 21 months after wenchuan earthquake the money Zhang raised from foreign friends in several fund-rasing activities is still not put into any project. )
Care for Children is very pleased that the Ziyi Zhang Foundation has committed to financially support the De Yang children's re-building project with a donation of US$ 400,000. The donation will be transferred to Care for Children within three weeks of the ground-breaking ceremony.
(This means that the project has not started yet.)
Care for Children is excited about the potential this project has to transform thousands of children's lives, and make a positive impact on the development of child welfare in De Yang, Si Chuan, and the surrounding region. Care for Children is very grateful for the significant contribution of Ziyi Zhang's foundation to make this project possible.

Chinese actress Zhang Ziyi is suspected of not yet honoring the donation she had garnered for victims of the 2008 Szechuan earthquake during her fundraising activities at the Cannes Film Festival that same year.
A friend of Zhang’s fiancee Vivi Nevo, had reportedly set up the Zhang Ziyi Foundation on her behalf in the United States to conduct fundraising activities for the earthquake victims. Citing information from Nevo’s close friend in Hong Kong, Chinese media reports alleged that the Foundation’s donation funds, earmarked for the Chinese Red Cross Foundation of at least $2 million, were channelled into Zhang’s personal overseas account and remained there for almost 20 months after her fundraising efforts at the film festival.
Local authority has difficult in investigating this case partially because Zhang Ziyi raised funds for victims of the 2008 Szdchuan earthquake in France and U.S.A. Now this case has drawn vast majority of Chinese puyblic attentions who are expecting Zhang ziyi to expose her account financial statements. Without judicial intervention it seems that there is a faint hope. Many celebrities such as Roberta Armani, Joins Hollywood Reporter Eric Mika,Cannes artistic director Thierry Frémaux etc. have been involved in this thing.But they might have no idea about this thing right now. But, personally, I think there's also possibility that Zhang, a celebrity, can just shut up some media with money and underhanded politics.
