Antonov 或者 AN-255都不是苏联唯一的航空飞梭计划。在前苏联那些神秘的未向人公开的天空计划中VM-T
Atlant或许是一个更好的例子，他是被设计成用来应付重型或超重型货物的运输型航空飞机，比如运载火箭助推器或者另一架小型航天飞机。这也许是一个另类的AN-225，不过很不幸VM-T

　VM-T
Atlant其实是M-4野牛轰炸机的改造版本专用于运载火箭助推器。虽然在操作与航程上M-4系列飞机都有所不足，但在当时的情况下VM-T仍是唯一能担当重型运输任务的飞机，事实也证明了它的设计是合理的、成功的。

历史事件

　　1988年3月23日，VM—T首次运载“暴风雪”号航天飞机飞往拜科努尔发射场。但在距目的地还有300公里时，VM-T发生燃油泄露，机组果断关闭2号发动机以避免火灾。随后机上的发电机全部失效，仅靠蓄电池维持基本用电，襟翼无法放下，好在起落架的应急装置正常工作。
