据《赫芬顿邮报》（The Huffington Post）9月28日报道，周日晚，香港警察试图平息数万香港街道上的民主示威抗议者，平日平静的街道一时间宛如战区。
催泪弹射向了在政府总部前聚集的民众，人们聚集在这里向北京表达反对其对香港这座半自治城市做出的限制民主改革的决定。
当抗议者们试图用雨伞保护自己时，香港街头出现了略显超现实主义的景象。
北京当局对抗议活动进行了新闻封锁，有报道称一些社交网站已经被封。
