2 The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

(Following up)

237. If you divorce them before you have touched them, but after you had set the dowry for them, give them half of what you specified—unless they forego the right, or the one in whose hand is the marriage contract foregoes it. But to forego is nearer to piety. And do not forget generosity between one another. God is seeing of everything you do.

238. Guard your prayers, and the middle prayer, and stand before God in devotion.

239. But if you are in fear, then on foot, or riding. And when you are safe, remember God, as He taught you what you did not know.

240. Those of you who die and leave wives behind—a will shall provide their wives with support for a year, provided they do not leave. If they leave, you are not to blame for what they do with themselves, provided it is reasonable. God is Mighty and Wise.

241. And divorced women shall be provided for, equitably—a duty upon the righteous.

242. God thus explains His revelations to you, so that you may understand.

243. Have you not considered those who fled their homes, by the thousands, fearful of death? God said to them, “Die.” Then He revived them. God is Gracious towards the people, but most people are not appreciative.

244. Fight in the cause of God, and know that God is Hearing and Knowing.

245. Who is he who will offer God a generous loan, so He will multiply it for him manifold? God receives and amplifies, and to Him you will be returned.

246. Have you not considered the notables of the Children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet of theirs, “Appoint a king for us, and we will fight in the cause of God.” He said, “Is it possible that, if fighting was ordained for you, you would not fight?” They said, “Why would we not fight in the cause of God, when we were driven out of our homes, along with our children?” But when fighting was ordained for them, they turned away, except for a few of them. But God is aware of the wrongdoers.

247. Their prophet said to them, “God has appointed Saul to be your king.” They said, “How can he have authority over us, when we are more worthy of authority than he, and he was not given plenty of wealth?” He said, “God has chosen him over you, and has increased him in knowledge and stature.” God bestows His sovereignty upon whomever He wills. God is Embracing and Knowing.

237.在与她们交接之前,在为她们决定聘仪之後,如果你们休了她们,那末,应当以所定聘仪的半数赠与她们,除非她们加以宽免,或手缔婚约的人加以宽免;宽免是更近於敬畏的。你们不要忘记互惠。真主确是明察你们的行为的。

238.你们当谨守许多拜功,和最贵的拜功,你们当为真主而顺服地立正。

239.如果你们有所畏惧,那末,可以步行著或骑乘著(做礼拜)。你们安全的时候,当依真主所教你们的礼仪而记念他。

240.你们中弃世而遗留妻子的人,当为妻室而遗嘱,当供给她们一年的衣食,不可将她们驱逐出去。如果她们自愿出去,那末,她们关於自身的合礼的行为,对於你们是毫无罪过的。真主是万能的,是至睿的。

241.凡被休的妇女,都应得一份照例的离仪,这是敬畏的人应尽的义务。

242.真主为你们这样阐明他的迹象,以便你们了解。

243.你没有知道,那为怕死而整千整万的从自己家里逃亡出去的人吗?真主曾对他们说:“你们死亡吧。”嗣後,又使他们复活。真主对於世人确是有恩惠的,但世人大半不感谢。

244.你们当为主道而战斗,当知道真主是全聪的,是全知的。

245.谁以善债借给真主?他将以许多倍偿还他。真主能使人穷迫,能使人宽裕,你们只被召归於他。

246.你不知道穆萨死後以色列人中的领袖吗?当时他们对一个同族的先知说:“请你替我们立一个国王,我们就为主道而战斗。”他说:“如果战斗成为你们的定制,你们会不战斗吗?”他们说:“我们已被敌人逐出故乡,父子离散,我们怎能不为主道而战斗呢?”战斗已成为他们的定制的时候,他们除少数人外,都违背命令了。真主是全知不义的人的。

247.他们的先知对他们说:“真主确已为你们立塔鲁特为国王了。”他们说:“他怎麽配做我们的国王呢?我们是比他更配做国王的,况且他没有丰富的财产。”他说:“真主确已选他为你们的领袖,并且加赐他渊博的学识和健壮的体魄。”真主常常把国权赏赐自己所意欲的人。真主是宽大的,全知的。

237. If you divorce them before you have touched them, but after you had set the dowry for them, give them half of what you specified—unless they forego the right, or the one in whose hand is the marriage contract foregoes it. But to forego is nearer to piety. And do not forget generosity between one another. God is seeing of everything you do[If you divorce them before you have touched manually women, however after you had set the generous dowry for them, next designate women half of what you agreed in bygone days—excepting that women abjure indeed the right, by way of an alternative, the men good-naturedly pay in full toward women. But to forego is more adjoining to godliness. And do not exclude loftiness and generosity amid one another. God is seeing of everything you do].*

238. Guard your prayers, and the middle prayer, and stand before God in devotion[Guard and also manage your holy joys, and the middle worship, and stand and stop before God among endearment].

239. But if you are in fear, then on foot, or riding. And when you are safe, remember God, as He taught you what you did not know[Nevertheless if you are in ailment, next, riding, by way of an alternative on foot. And By the time you are in good shape, and take time to think of God, on the grounds that He made aware of you what you did not get to understand].

240. Those of you who die and leave wives behind—a will shall provide their wives with support for a year, provided they do not leave. If they leave, you are not to blame for what they do with themselves, provided it is reasonable. God is Mighty and Wise[Those of you who die and leave women behind—a will shall offer goodly their wives with residence and maintenance for the purpose of a full-length year, provided they do not leave and exist among the places before. If they go, and you are just not to blame towards what they do in relation to themselves, only if it is kind of quite good. God is extra Intelligent and Omnipotent].

241. And divorced women shall be provided for, equitably—a duty upon the righteous[And the divorced and apart women shall be offered befittingly—a duty-bound obligation in the context of the righteous and law-abiding].

242. God thus explains His revelations to you, so that you may understand[As an automatic result God explains His revelations to you, for the purpose of you might possibly understand].

243. Have you not considered those who fled their homes, by the thousands, fearful of death? God said to them, “Die.” Then He revived them. God is Gracious towards the people, but most people are not appreciative[Have you not fathomed those who left behind their jubilant homes, through the thousands, exceedingly fearful of death? God indicated to them after a period of time, “Go down.” Back then He animated them again on top of that. God is very kind aimed at the human beings, excepting the fact that most of ungodly men and women are not affirmative and thankful justly].

244. [And combat in the cause of God, and have knowledge of that God is Examining and Competent.]Fight in the cause of God, and know that God is Hearing and Knowing.

245. Who is he who will offer God a generous loan, so He will multiply it for him manifold? God receives and amplifies, and to Him you will be returned[Who is he who would rather offer God a reasonable mortgage, in this degree He will multiply it in the expectation of him manifold? God receives and amplifies, and of course you will be returned in addition come to God].

246. Have you not considered the notables of the Children of Israel after Moses? When they said to a prophet of theirs, “Appoint a king for us, and we will fight in the cause of God.”[Have you not fathomed the extra big name grandees of the Children of Israel giving consideration to Moses? Just at the same time as they goodly expressed to a big name prophet of theirs, “Name a king belonging to us, and we will obviously fight in the cause of God.”] He said, “Is it possible that, if fighting was ordained for you, you would not fight?” They said, “Why would we not fight in the cause of God, when we were driven out of our homes, along with our children?” But when fighting was ordained for them, they turned away, except for a few of them. But God is aware of the wrongdoers[He said, “Is it possible that, on the assumption that battling was named for you, you would not fight?” Loudly they explicated, “Why would we not fight in the name of God, when we were driven out of our loved and jubilant homes, together with all of our agonised children?” Only at the time fighting was named for them, they turned away, with the exclusion of a few of them. But God is mindful of the wrongdoers and sinners].


247. Their prophet said to them, “God has appointed Saul to be your king.” They said, “How can he have authority over us, when we are more worthy of authority than he, and he was not given plenty of wealth?” He said, “God has chosen him over you, and has increased him in knowledge and stature.” God bestows His sovereignty upon whomever He wills. God is Embracing and Knowing[One of their big name prophet of yore indicated to them, “God has named Saul to be one of your king.” Anyroad they took exception, saying, “How can he have imperium over us, just at the same time as we are inarguably more exceptional of prestidigitation than he, and he was not being given plenty of ampleness?” He said, “God has then chosen him over you, in addition has built up him in knowledge and fame of course.” God extraordinarily bestows His sovereignty on top of whomever He enjoins. And Almighty ever is Explicit and Knowing].
