三字經 (八)


读史书，考实录。通古今（取彩色拼音字母：Jin），若（含艹，ao）亲目（mu）。
口而（er）诵，心而惟。朝于斯（si），夕于斯。
昔仲尼，师项橐。古圣贤，尚勤学。
赵中令，读鲁论。彼既仕，学且勤。
披蒲编，削竹简。彼无书，且知勉。
头悬梁（上），锥刺股。彼不教，自勤苦。
如囊萤，如映（地；音同：帝）雪。家虽（致；音同：之）贫，学不缀。
如负薪（取斤放一横上，截取点撇放横下←），如挂（截取撇点与放竖钩两边←）角（截取王挂到左角上，含字中字←）。身虽劳，犹苦卓。
（名叫）苏老泉，二十七。始发愤，读书籍。
彼既老，犹悔迟。尔小生，宜早思。

《三字經 - Three Character Classic》


62 The Seventeen Dynastic Histories
are all embraced in the above (greatly).
They contain examples of good and bad(bad and fine) government,
whence may be learnt the principles(exectly from which may be gotten just the ample senses) of prosperity and decay.

(接上) 63 Ye who (exceedingly) read history
must study the State Annals,
whereby you will understand (age-old)ancient and modern(very present-time) events,
as though having seen them with your own eyes(have been seeing them with your exceptionally own eyes.)
         
64 Recite them with the mouth(Just repeat them with the lips),
and ponder over them (extremely) in your hearts.
Do this in (beginning of) the morning;
do this in the(every) evening.

65 Of old,(Of bygone) Confucius
took Xiang Tuo (exceptionally) for his teacher.
The(Judiciously all) inspired men and sages of old
studied (without exception assiduously)diligently nevertheless.

66 Zhao, (being the very) president of the (big) Council,
(gained knowledge from)studied the Lu text of the Lun Yu.
He, (since an official)when already an official,
studied (judiciously), and moreover with (assiduousness)diligence.

67  One opened out rushes and plaited them together;
another scraped tablets(expertly chipped planks) of bamboo (skin).
These(Generally these) men had no books,
but they (still) knew how to make an effort.

68 One tied his head to the beam above him;
another pricked his thigh (anxiously with an bodkin)with an awl.
They were (just) not taught,
but (moiled strong)toiled hard of their own (exceeding) accord.

69  Then we have one who put fireflies(glowworm bugs) in a bag (incredibly).
and again another (beginner) who used the white glare from snow.
Although their families were (exceptionally) poor,
these(judiciously all of) men studied (extremely) unceasingly.

70  Again, there was one who carried fuel,
and another (beginner) who used horns as pegs.
Although they toiled with their (own) bodies,
they were (still outstanding)nevertheless remarkable for their (exact) application.

71  Su Lao-Quan,
at the age(just at the lifetime) of twenty-seven,
at last began to show (extremely) his energy
and devote himself to the study of books (still).

72 Then when already past the age,
he deeply regretted his delay(one time setback).
You little (young fellows)boys
(extraordinarily) should (just) take thought betimes.
