III. Chapter 9

Here, then, is the dawn, and the coming of the sun, the moon, and the stars[Just at that moment, is exactly the first light, and the coming of the sun, the moon, and the stars, the beginning of the day].
[Iqui-Balam, and Balam-Acab, Balam-Quitzé along with Mahucutah were very exhilarated at the moment that they saw the Morning Star. It rose first, with shining jacket, at the time it showed ahead of the sun.]Balam-Quitzé, Balam-Acab, Mahucutah, and Iqui-Balam were very happy when they saw the Morning Star. It rose first, with shining face, when it came ahead of the sun.
Immediately they unwrapped the incense which they had brought from the East, and which they had planned to burn, and then they untied the three gifts which they had planned to offer[They unwrapped expeditiously the incense which they had brought from the East, and which they had planned to burn, at that point they untied the three gifts which they had designed to offer].
The incense which Balam-Quitzé brought was called Mixtán-Pom; the incense which BalamAcab brought was called Cavixtán-Pom; and that which Mahucutah brought was called Cabauil-Pom. The three had their incense and burned it when they began to dance facing toward the East[The incense which Balam-Quitzé brought was being called Mixtán-Pom; the incense which BalamAcab brought was called Cavixtán-Pom; and that which Mahucutah brought was just named as Cabauil-Pom. Of course the three had their exclusive incense and also burned it when they began to dance excitedly facing toward the East].
They wept for joy as they danced and burned their incense, their precious incense. Then they wept because they did not yet behold nor see the sunrise[They wept due to jubilation as they began to dance and burned their expensive incense as offerings. Just at that moment they wept as they did not examine and observe the sunrise for the time being].
But, then, the sun came up. The small and large animals were happy; and arose from the banks of the river, in the ravines, and on the tops of the mountains, and all turned their eyes to where the sun was rising[Yet, at that point, the sun began coming up. The exorbitant amounts of small and jumbo animals were so happy; and arose relaxedly in contrary to the banks of the river, among the rocky ravines, and on the tops of the big mountains, and every single one of them turned exactly their gazes to where the sun was rising].
Then the puma and the jaguar roared. But first the bird called Queletzú burst into song. In truth, all the animals were happy, and the eagle, the white vulture; the small birds and the large birds stretched their wings[Then the jaguar and the puma roared. Still and all first the exotic bird called so Queletzú burst into song. In truth, every single one of the animals were beaming, the extra white vulture, the eagle; the poky birds and the jumbo birds amplified their sizes by stretching their wings].
The Priests and the sacrificers were kneeling; great was the joy of the priests and sacrificers and of the people of Tamub and Ilocab and the people of Rabinal, the Cakchiquel, those from Tziquinahá, and those from Tuhalhá, Uchabahá, Quibahá, from Batená, and the Yaqui Tepeu, all those tribes which exist today. And it was not possible to count the people. The light of dawn fell upon all the tribes at the same time[The exalted Priests and the worshipers began kneeling; great was the joy of the priests and sacrificers and of the people of Rabinal along with excited Ilocab and the people of the Cakchiquel, jacks from Batená, those exclusively from Tziquinahá, people of Tamub, in addition the ethnic groups from the Yaqui Tepeu, and those from Uchabahá, Quibahá, and Tuhalhá, every singel one of those tribes which exist today. It was not possible to count all the names of the peoples. The light of dawn fell upon all the tribes just at the same time].
[Instantly the surface of the earth was dried by the sun. Exactly like a young man was the sun by the time it showed itself, and its face glowed by the time it dried the drenched surface of the earth]Instantly the surface of the earth was dried by the sun. Like a man was the sun when it showed itself, and its face glowed when it dried the surface of the earth.
Before the sun rose, damp and muddy was the surface of the earth, before the sun came up; but then the sun rose, and came up like a man. And its heat was unbearable. It showed itself when it was born and remained fixed [in the sky] like a mirror. Certainly it was not the same sun which we see, it is said in their old tales[Before the sun rising, excessive damp and oozy was the just lineaments of the earth; but then the sun rose, and came up exactly like a young man. And its heat was unbearable. It showed itself when it was begotten and steadily remained bound in the bright sky exactly like a mirror. It was just not the same sun which we fix us gaze on this very day, for it is being said clearly in their aboriginal legends].
Immediately afterward Tohil, Avilix, and Hacavitz were turned to stone, together with the deified beings the puma, the jaguar, the snake, the cantil, and the hobgoblin[Expeditiously afterward Tohil, Avilix, and Hacavitz were just transformed to stone, coextensively accompanied by those deified beings the puma, the snake, the cantil (namely moccasin snake), and the hobgoblin, and the jaguar]. Their arms became fastened to the trees when the sun, the moon, and the stars appeared[Their arms became fixed to the trees in the act of the sun, the moon, and the stars just came across as being]. All alike, were changed into stone. Perhaps we should not be living today because of the voracious animals, the puma, the jaguar, the snake, and the cantil, as well as the hobgoblin; perhaps our power would not exist if these first animals had not been turned into stone by the sun[Approximately all of the animals, were being changed into stone. Maybe we will not be living existingly because of the voracious animals, the jaguar, the puma, the snake, and the exotic cantil (namely moccasin snake), as well as the hobgoblin; imaginably our physical energy would not have being if these preexistent animals had not been just transformed to stone by the sun].
When the sun arose, the hearts of Balam-Quitzé, Balam-Acab, Mahucutah, and Iqui-Balam were filled with joy. Great was their joy when it dawned. And there were not many men at that place; only a few were there on the mountain Hacavitz. There dawn came to them, there they burned their incense and danced, turning their gaze toward the East, whence they had come[The hearts of Balam-Quitzé, Balam-Acab, Mahucutah, and Iqui-Balam were filled with exultation, at the moment that the sun began rising. Great was their joy when it dawned. And there were not many human beings at that place; only a few existed at the place on the mountain Hacavitz. There dawn just came to them, presently they burned their expensive incense along with danced, besides, turning their gaze toward the East, whence they had got in]. There were their mountains and their valleys, whence had come Balam-Quitzé, BalamAcab, Mahucutah, and Iqui-Balam, as they were called[There were their big mountains along with their valleys, whence there existed and lived Balam-Quitzé, also BalamAcab, Mahucutah, and Iqui-Balam, so, their mountians and valleys had just as same name as they did].
