67 Sovereignty (Al-Mulk)


In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful.

1. Blessed is He in whose hand is the sovereignty, and Who has power over everything.

2. He who created death and life—to test you—as to which of you is better in conduct. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.

3. He who created seven heavens in layers. You see no discrepancy in the creation of the Compassionate. Look again. Can you see any cracks?

4. Then look again, and again, and your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted.

5. We have adorned the lower heaven with lanterns, and made them missiles against the devils; and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.

6. For those who reject their Lord, there is the torment of Hell. What an evil destination!

7. When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring, as it seethes.

8. It almost bursts with fury. Every time a batch is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, “Has no warner come to you?”

9. They will say, “Yes, a warner did come to us, but we disbelieved, and said, ‘God did not send down anything; you are very much mistaken.’”

10. And they will say, “Had we listened or reasoned, we would not have been among the inmates of the Blaze.”

11. So they will acknowledge their sins. So away with the inmates of the Blaze.

12. As for those who fear their Lord in secret—for them is forgiveness and a great reward.

13. Whether you keep your words secret, or declare them—He is Aware of the inner thoughts.

14. Would He not know, He Who created? He is the Refined, the Expert.

15. It is He who made the earth manageable for you, so travel its regions, and eat of His provisions. To Him is the Resurgence.

16. Are you confident that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to collapse beneath you as it spins?

17. Or are you confident that the One in Heaven will not unleash against you a violent storm? Then you will know what My warning is like.

18. Those before them also denied the truth; and how was My disapproval?

19. Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading their wings, and folding them? None holds them except the Compassionate. He is Perceiver of everything.

20. Or who is this who is a force for you to protect you against the Compassionate? The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion.

21. Or who is this that will provide for you, if He withholds His provision? Yet they persist in defiance and aversion.

22. Is he who walks bent on his own design better guided, or he who walks upright on a straight path?

23. Say, “It is He who produced you; and made for you the hearing, and the vision, and the organs. But rarely do you give thanks.”

24. Say, “It is He who scattered you on earth, and to Him you will be rounded up.”

25. And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?”

26. Say, “Knowledge is with God, and I am only a clear warner.”

27. But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will turn gloomy, and it will be said, “This is what you used to call for.”

28. Say, “Have you considered? Should God make me perish, and those with me; or else He bestows His mercy on us; who will protect the disbelievers from an agonizing torment?”

29. Say, “He is the Compassionate. We have faith in Him, and in Him we trust. Soon you will know who is in evident error.”

30. Say, “Have you considered? If your water drains away, who will bring you pure running water?”

这章是麦加的，全章共计三十节。

奉至仁至慈的真主之名

1.多福哉拥有主权者！他对於万事是全能的。

2.他曾创造了死生，以便他考验你们谁的作为是最优美的。他是万能的，是至赦的。

3.他创造了七层天，你在至仁主的所造物中，不能看出一点参差。你再看看！你究竟能看出甚么缺陷呢？

4.然后你再看两次，你的眼睛将昏花地、疲倦地转回来！

5.我确已以众星点缀最近的天，并以众星供恶魔们猜测。我已为他们预备火狱的刑罚。

6.不信主的人们将受火狱的刑罚，那归宿真恶劣！

7.当他们被投入火狱的时候，他们将听见沸腾的火狱发出驴鸣般的声音。

8.火狱几乎为愤怒而破碎，每有一群人被投入其中，管火狱的天神们就对他们说：“　难道没有任何警告者降临你们吗？”

9.他们说：“不然！警告者确已降临我们了，但我们否认他们，我们说：‘真主没有降示甚么，你们只在重大的迷误中。’”

10.他们说：“假若我们能听从，或能明理，我们必不致沦於火狱的居民之列！”

11.他们承认他们的罪过。让火狱的居民远离真主的慈恩！

12.在秘密中畏惧主的人们，将蒙赦宥和重大的报酬。

13.你们可以隐匿你们的言语；也可以把它说出来。他确是全知心事的。

14.创造者既是玄妙而且彻知的，难道他不知道你们所隐匿的言语吗？

15.他为你们而使大地平稳，你们应当在大地的各方行走，应当吃他的给养，你们复活后，只归於他。

16.难道你们不怕在天上的主使大地在震荡的时候吞咽你们吗？

17.难道你们不怕在天上的主使飞沙走石的暴风摧毁你们吗？你们将知道我的警告是怎样的。

18.在他们之前逝去的人们，确已否认众使者，我的谴责是怎样的？

19.难道他们没有看见在他们的上面展翅和　翼的众鸟吗？只有至仁主维持它们，他确是明察万物的。

20.除了真主援助你们外，还有谁能做你们的援军呢？你们只陷於自欺之中。

21.谁能供给你们呢？如果至仁主扣留他的给养。不然，他们固执著骄傲和勃逆。

22.究竟谁更能获得引导呢？是匍匐而行的人呢？还是在正路上挺身而行的人呢？

23.你说：“他是创造你们，并为你们创造耳、目和心的。你们却很少感谢。”

24.你说：“他是使你们繁殖於大地上的，你们将来要被集合到他那里。”

25.他们说：“这个警告甚么时候实现呢？如果你们是诚实的人。”

26.你说：“关於此事的知识，只在主那里，我只是一个坦率的警告者。”

27.当他们看见这应许临近的时候，不信的人们的面目将变成黑的！或者将说：“这就是你们生前妄言不会实现的事。”

28.你说：“你们告诉我吧，如果真主毁灭我，和我的同道，或怜悯我们，那末，谁使不信道的人们得免於痛苦的刑罚呢？”

29.你说：“他是至仁主，我们已信仰他，我们只信赖他。你们将知道谁在明显的迷误中。”

30.你说：“你们告诉我吧，如果你们的水一旦渗漏了，谁能给你们一条流水呢？”

2. He who created death and life—to test you—as to which of you is better in conduct. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving.
3. He who first created seven heavens in layers. You see no inharmoniousness in the devising of the Compassionate. Look again. Can you perceive any cracks?

3. He who created seven heavens in layers. You see no discrepancy in the creation of the Compassionate. Look a second time. Can you find any theatrical cracks?
4. Look a third, and a fourth time, as well as your eyesight will backtrack quickly to you drained and dazzled.

4. Look a third, and a fourth time, and your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted at the last.
5. We have ornamented the lower heaven with lanterns, and made them missiles against the devils; and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze.
6. Used for those who reject their Lord, there is the torment of Hell. What an evil destination!

In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful(In the majestic name of Most Extraordinary, Most Benignant God).

1. Blessed is He in whose hand is the sovereignty, and Who has power over everything[Blessed is He in whose hand is the lofty sovereignty, and Who has power over absolutely everything].

2. He who created death and life—to test you—as to which of you is better in conduct. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving[He who brought into existence death and life—to just examine you—as to which of you is better in execution. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving].

3. He who created seven heavens in layers. You see no discrepancy in the creation of the Compassionate. Look again. Can you see any cracks[He who brought into being seven layers in heavens. You observe no discrepancy among the most exquisite creation of the Unobjectionably Merciful. See again. Can you examine any cracks or breakings]?

4. Then look again, and again, and your sight will return to you dazzled and exhausted[Then espy again, and again, and your observation will go back to you exhausted in addition dazzled].

5. We have adorned the lower heaven with lanterns, and made them missiles against the devils; and We have prepared for them the punishment of the Blaze[We have just ornamented the subjacent heaven with lanterns, and brought into existence them missiles against the demons; and We have prepared for them the punishment of the burning].

6. For those who reject their Lord, there is the torment of Hell. What an evil destination[For those who deny their eternal Lord, there is the bewailing of Hell. What an inexcusable destination]!

7. When they are thrown into it, they will hear it roaring, as it seethes[Just at the same time as they are thrown into it, they will hear it exceptionally roaring, resembling it seethes].

8. It almost bursts with fury. Every time a batch is thrown into it, its keepers will ask them, “Has no warner come to you?”[It bursts nearly with anger. Each time a batch is thrown among it, its keepers will exclaim to them, “Has no just warner come specially to you?”]

9. They will say, “Yes, a warner did come to us, but we disbelieved, and said, ‘God did not send down anything; you are very much mistaken.’”[They will explain, “Of course, a warner did come to us, but we disbelieved, and said, ‘God did not send down anything; you are blisteringly inexact.’”]

10. [And they will say, “Provided we had listened or reasoned, we would not have been junked amid the inmates ofthe blaze of hell.”]And they will say, “Had we listened or reasoned, we would not have been among the inmates of the Blaze.”

11. So they will acknowledge their sins. So away with the inmates of the Blaze[To this extent they will acknowledge their sins. By doing so away from the inmates of the burning of the hell].

12. As for those who fear their Lord in secret—for them is forgiveness and a great reward[As for those who fear extraordinarily their Lord—for them is major amnesty and a great reward].

13. Whether you keep your words secret, or declare them—He is Aware of the inner thoughts[Whether you keep your words secret, or express them—He is aware of the innermost being thoughts].

14. Would He not know, He Who created? He is the Refined, the Expert[Would He not know, He Who created? He is the very refined, the brilliant cognoscente].

15. It is He who made the earth manageable for you, so travel its regions, and eat of His provisions. To Him is the Resurgence[It is He who brought into existence the earth manageable for you, so journey its realms, and eat of His exceptionary provisions. To Him is the new beginning].

16. Are you confident that the One in heaven will not cause the earth to collapse beneath you as it spins[Are you confident that the One in heaven will not bring the earth to exterminate beneath you just at the time it spins]?

17. Or are you confident that the One in Heaven will not unleash against you a violent storm? Then you will know what My warning is like[Or are you confident that the One in Heaven will not exert against you a violent storm? By then you will have knowledge what My warning is like].

18. Those before them also denied the truth; and how was My disapproval[Those before them still negated the truth; and how was My exception]?

19. [Have they not seen the birds just above them, wide-spreading their wings, and next tucking them with each other? None holds such wonder except the Benignant God. He is Perceiver of everything.]Have they not seen the birds above them, spreading their wings, and folding them? None holds them except the Compassionate. He is Perceiver of everything.

20. Or who is this who is a force for you to protect you against the Compassionate? The disbelievers are in nothing but delusion[Or who is this who is a force belonging to you to exceptionarily protect you against the Unobjectionably Merciful? The disbelievers are in nothing except hallucination].

21. Or who is this that will provide for you, if He withholds His provision? Yet they persist in defiance and aversion[By way of alternative who is this that will probably provide for you, assuming God withholds His provision? Yet they persist in insubordination along with execration].

22. [Is he who walks crookedly on his own design better guided, or is he who walks justly on a complanate street better guided?]Is he who walks bent on his own design better guided, or he who walks upright on a straight path?

23. Say, “It is He who produced you; and made for you the hearing, and the vision, and the organs. But rarely do you give thanks.”[Say, “It is He who brought into existence you; and made for you the ability of hearing, and the eyesight, and the organs. But on rare occasions do you give thanks.”]

24. Say, “It is He who scattered you on earth, and to Him you will be rounded up.”[Say, “It exactly is God who scattered you on earth, and to Him you will be jointly amassed.”]

25. [Also they say, “When will this expectation be carried out, despite being you are genuine?”]And they say, “When will this promise be fulfilled, if you are truthful?”

26. Say, “Knowledge is with God, and I am only a clear warner.”[Say, “Knowledge is with the Benignant God, and I am exclusively an explicit warner.”]

27. [However, just at the time they see it exceedingly approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will turn gloomy, and it will be said, “This is what you used to invocate.”]But when they see it approaching, the faces of those who disbelieved will turn gloomy, and it will be said, “This is what you used to call for.”

28. Say, “Have you considered? Should God make me perish, and those with me; or else He bestows His mercy on us; who will protect the disbelievers from an agonizing torment?”[Say, “Have you believed? Should the Benignant God make me cease to exist, and those with me; or less the Unobjectionably Mercifu bestows His maximal mercy on us; who will protect the disbelievers from an agonizing torment?”]

29. Say, “He is the Compassionate. We have faith in Him, and in Him we trust. Soon you will know who is in evident error.”[Say, “He is the Compassionate. We have faith in Him, and in Him we believe. Soon you ought to approximately know who is just in shameless error.”]

30. Say, “Have you considered? If your water drains away, who will bring you pure running water?”[Say, “Have you exercised care about? If your water drains away, who will bring you pure running cold water?”]
