2 The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)

(Following up)

197. The Hajj is during specific months. Whoever decides to perform the Hajj—there shall be no sexual relations, nor misconduct, nor quarrelling during the Hajj. And whatever good you do, God knows it. And take provisions, but the best provision is righteousness. And be mindful of Me, O people of understanding.

198. You commit no error by seeking bounty from your Lord. When you disperse from Arafat, remember God at the Sacred Landmark. And remember Him as He has guided you. Although, before that, you were of those astray.

199. Then disperse from where the people disperse, and ask God for forgiveness. God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

200. When you have completed your rites, remember God as you remember your parents, or even more. Among the people is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world,” yet he has no share in the Hereafter.

201. And among them is he who says, “Our Lord, give us goodness in this world, and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”

202. These will have a share of what they have earned. God is swift in reckoning.

203. And remember God during the designated days. But whoever hurries on in two days commits no wrong, and whoever stays on commits no wrong—provided he maintains righteousness. And obey God, and know that to Him you will be gathered.

204. Among the people is he whose speech about the worldly life impresses you, and he calls God to witness what is in his heart, while he is the most hostile of adversaries.

205. When he gains power, he strives to spread corruption on earth, destroying properties and lives. God does not like corruption.

206. And when he is told, “Beware of God,” his pride leads him to more sin. Hell is enough for him—a dreadful abode.

207. And among the people is he who sells himself seeking God’s approval. God is kind towards the servants.

208. O you who believe! Enter into submission, wholeheartedly, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; he is to you an outright enemy.

209. But if you slip after the proofs have come to you, know that God is Powerful and Wise.

210. Are they waiting for God Himself to come to them in the shadows of the clouds, together with the angels, and thus the matter is settled? All things are returned to God.

211. Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We have given them. Whoever alters the blessing of God after it has come to him—God is severe in retribution.

212. Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they ridicule those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. God provides to whomever He wills without measure.

213. Humanity used to be one community; then God sent the prophets, bringing good news and giving warnings. And He sent down with them the Scripture, with the truth, to judge between people regarding their differences. But none differed over it except those who were given it—after the proofs had come to them—out of mutual envy between them. Then God guided those who believed to the truth they had disputed, in accordance with His will. God guides whom He wills to a straight path.

197.朝觐的月份,是几个可知的月份。凡在这几个月内决计朝觐的人,在朝觐中当戒除淫辞、恶言和争辩。凡你们所行的善功,真主都是知道的。你们当以敬畏做旅费,因为最好的旅费是敬畏。有理智的人啊!你们当敬畏我。

198.寻求主的恩惠,对於你们是无罪的。你们从阿赖法特结队而行的时候,当在禁寺附近记念真主,你们当记念他,因为他曾教导你们,从前你们确是迷误的。

199.然後,你们从众人结队而行的地方结队而行,你们当向真主求饶。真主确是至赦的,确是至慈的。

200.你们在举行朝觐的典礼之後,当记念真主,犹如记念你们的祖先一样,或记念得更多些。有人说:“我们的主啊!求你在今世赏赐我们。”他在後世,绝无福分。

201.有人说:“我们的主啊!求你在今世赏赐我们美好的(生活),在後世也赏赐我们美好的(生活),求你保护我们,免受火狱的刑罚。”

202.这等人,将因他们的营求而享受一部分的报酬。真主的清算是神速的。

203.你们当在数日内记念真主,在两日内仓猝起程的人,毫无罪过;延迟的人,也无罪过。(抉择的权利),专归敬畏的人。你们当敬畏真主,当知道你们只被集合在他那里。

204.有人谈论今世的生活,他的言论,使你赞叹,他还求真主作证他的存心。其实,他是最强悍的仇敌。

205.他转脸之後,图谋不轨,蹂躏禾稼,伤害牲畜。真主是不喜作恶的。

206.有人对他说:“你当敬畏真主”,他就因羞愤而犯罪。火狱将使他满足,那卧褥真恶劣。

207.有人为求真主的喜悦而自愿捐躯。真主是仁爱众仆的。

208.信道的人们啊!你们当全体入在和平教中,不要跟随恶魔的步伐,他确是你们的明敌。

209.如果你们在明证降临之後背离正道,那末,你们当知道真主是万能的,是至睿的。

210.他们只等待真主在云荫中与众天神同齐降临,事情将被判决。一切事情,只归真主安排。

211.你问以色列的後裔,我赏赐过他们若干明显的迹象。真主的恩典降临之後,凡加以变更的人,(真主必定惩罚他),因为真主的刑罚确是严厉的。

212.不信道的人,为今世的生活所迷惑,他们嘲笑信道者,复活日,敬畏者将在他们之上;真主将无量地供给他所意欲者。

213.世人原是一个民族,嗣後,他们信仰分歧,故真主派众先知作报喜者和警告者,且降示他们包含真理的经典,以便他为世人判决他们所争论的是非。惟曾受天经的人,在明证降临之後,为互相嫉妒,而对天经意见分歧,故真主依自己的意旨而引导信道的人,俾得明了他们所争论的真理。真主引导他所意欲的人走上正路。

197. The Hajj is during specific months. Whoever decides to perform the Hajj—there shall be no sexual relations, nor misconduct, nor quarrelling during the Hajj. And whatever good you do, God knows it. And take provisions, but the best provision is righteousness. And be mindful of Me, O people of understanding[The Hajj is at a time of specific months. Whoever decides to exercise the Hajj—there ought to be nothing doing sexual relations, nor yet misconduct, nor squabbling at the time of the Hajj. And whatever good you execute, God realises apropos of it. And take merits, but the notable merit is good faith and justice. And be mindful of Messiah, O the people of experiencing].

198. [And you commit not any mistake by seeking payment out of your Lord. In the act of you begin to discharge from Arafat, express admiration for God at the saintly puja. And remember Him as He has explained and mentored you. Despite being, on the eve of that, you were one of those straying around.]You commit no error by seeking bounty from your Lord. When you disperse from Arafat, remember God at the Sacred Landmark. And remember Him as He has guided you. Although, before that, you were of those astray.

199. Then disperse from where the people disperse, and ask God for forgiveness. God is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful[Then get around away from where the people begin to drop out of sight, and ask God for forgiveness and exoneration. And God is Oft-forgiving, and Most Mercifu].

200. When you have completed your rites, remember God as you remember your parents, or even more. Among the people is he who says, “Our Lord, give us in this world,” yet he has no share in the Hereafter[On the point of you have completed your puja sacraments, eternally remember God as you remember your father and mother, or even more. And in the midst of them is he who expresses, “Our Oft-forgiving and Merciful Lord, grant us allotments in the midst of this world,” but he has nothing share for the duration of the Hereafter].

201. And among them is he who says, “Our Lord, give us goodness in this world, and goodness in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire.”[And amid them is he who says, “Our Oft-forgiving and Merciful Lord, submit us upstandingness for the duration of this real world, and goodness and excellence in the year of the Hereafter, and just guard us from the misery of the Fire.”]

202. These will have a share of what they have earned. God is swift in reckoning[These will experience a share of what they have obtained. God is instant and meticulous in tallying of course].

203. And remember God during the designated days. But whoever hurries on in two days commits no wrong, and whoever stays on commits no wrong—provided he maintains righteousness. And obey God, and know that to Him you will be gathered[And eternally remember God during the course of the explicitly appointed days. But someone gets a move on in two days makes no unjust, and someone stays on makes no off course or obnoxious—if and only if he maintains probity and righteousness. And obey and make good on God, and become aware of that to God you will be conjured].

204. Among the people is he whose speech about the worldly life impresses you, and he calls God to witness what is in his heart, while he is the most hostile of adversaries[In the middle of the people is he whose verbiage concerning the ordinary life impresses profoundly you, and he exclaims aloud God to justify what is amid his innermost being, at the moment that he is the most noxious of antagonists and enemies].

205. When he gains power, he strives to spread corruption on earth, destroying properties and lives. God does not like corruption[By the time he in fact gains power and influence, and he attempts to relay criminality and malversation on earth, blighting a lot of properties and existing lives. And God does not like corruption and
unjustness].

206. [At the time he is told explicitly, “Beware of God,” yet his pride brings him to farther offense. In the final analysis hell is enough for the purpose of him—a disturbing and formidablel home.]And when he is told, “Beware of God,” his pride leads him to more sin. Hell is enough for him—a dreadful abode.

207. And among the people is he who sells himself seeking God’s approval. God is kind towards the servants[And amid the people is he who offers himself seeking God’s blessing and agreement. God is exceptionally amiable to the followers].

208. O you who believe! Enter into submission, wholeheartedly, and do not follow the footsteps of Satan; he is to you an outright enemy[O the godly believers! Jump in amenableness, to the maximum extent, and do not follow the ghostly treads of Satan; he is to you a straightforward enemy].

209. But if you slip after the proofs have come to you, know that God is Powerful and Wise[But presuming that you move quietly in the wake of the proofs have in fact come to you, on top of that make sense of that God is unambiguous and sagacious].

210. Are they waiting for God Himself to come to them in the shadows of the clouds, together with the angels, and thus the matter is settled? All things are returned to God[Are they anxiously waiting for God Himself together with the angels to just appear to them in the shadows of the clouds, next the situation or argument is being rounded off? Everything is being returned to God].

211. Ask the Children of Israel how many clear signs We have given them. Whoever alters the blessing of God after it has come to him—God is severe in retribution[Ask the Children of Israel how many self-explanatory reminders We have bestowed them justly. And someone nastily makes alterations to the extra ratification and blessing of God following it has come to him — Of course God is heavy in retribution and also judgment].

212. Beautified is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they ridicule those who believe. But the righteous will be above them on the Day of Resurrection. God provides to whomever He wills without measure[Luxurious then as well mouthwatering is the life of this world for those who disbelieve, and they jeer at someone who sincerely believe. But the righteous and God-fearing will be extraordinarily above them on the Day of Resurrection. God provides blessings to whomever He wills over and above measure].

213. Humanity used to be one community; then God sent the prophets, bringing good news and giving warnings[Humanity used to be one kind ofcommunity; in days of yore God sent the prophets, bringing exceptionally good news and giving alarm bells]. And He sent down with them the Scripture, with the truth, to judge between people regarding their differences[And He sent down with them the Word of God, with the truth, judge amid human beings regarding their disagreements]. But none differed over it except those who were given it—after the proofs had come to them—out of mutual envy between them. Then God guided those who believed to the truth they had disputed, in accordance with His will. God guides whom He wills to a straight path[But not any demurred in the matter of it excepting that those who were being given it—out of mutual envy in them. Then God guided those who believed indeed to the gospel truth they had excitedly disputed, in accordance with His will and object. God leads whom He wills to a straight path].
