231. When you divorce women, and they have reached their term, either retain them amicably, or release them amicably. But do not retain them to hurt them and commit aggression. Whoever does that has wronged himself. And do not take God’s revelations for a joke. And remember God's favor to you, and that He revealed to you the Scripture and Wisdom to teach you. And fear God, and know that God is aware of everything.

232. When you divorce women, and they have reached their term, do not prevent them from marrying their husbands, provided they agree on fair terms. Thereby is advised whoever among you believes in God and the Last Day. That is better and more decent for you. God knows, and you do not know.

233. Mothers may nurse their infants for two whole years, for those who desire to complete the nursing-period. It is the duty of the father to provide for them and clothe them in a proper manner. No soul shall be burdened beyond its capacity. No mother shall be harmed on account of her child, and no father shall be harmed on account of his child. The same duty rests upon the heir. If the couple desire weaning, by mutual consent and consultation, they commit no error by doing so. You commit no error by hiring nursing-mothers, as long as you pay them fairly. And be wary of God, and know that God is Seeing of what you do.

234. As for those among you who die and leave widows behind, their widows shall wait by themselves for four months and ten days. When they have reached their term, there is no blame on you regarding what they might honorably do with themselves. God is fully acquainted with what you do.

235. You commit no error by announcing your engagement to women, or by keeping it to yourselves. God knows that you will be thinking about them. But do not meet them secretly, unless you have something proper to say. And do not confirm the marriage tie until the writing is fulfilled. And know that God knows what is in your souls, so beware of Him. And know that God is Forgiving and Forbearing.

236. You commit no error by divorcing women before having touched them, or before having set the dowry for them. And compensate them—the wealthy according to his means, and the poor according to his means—with a fair compensation, a duty upon the doers of good.

231.当你们休妻，而她们待婚满期的时候，你们当以善意挽留她们，或以优礼解放她们；不要为妨害她们而加以挽留，以便你们侵害她们。谁做了这件事，谁确已自欺了。你们不要把真主的迹象当做笑柄，你们当铭记真主所赐你们的恩惠，铭记他降示你们天经和智慧，用以教训你们。你们当敬畏真主，当知道真主对於万物是全知的。

232.如果你们休妻，而她们待婚期满，那末，当她们与人依礼而互相同意的时候，你们不要阻止她们嫁给她们的丈夫。这是用来规劝你们中确信真主和後世的人的。这对於你们是更有益的，是更纯洁的。真主知道，你们却不知道。

233.做母亲的，应当替欲哺满乳期的人，哺乳自己的婴儿两周岁。做父亲的，应当照例供给她们的衣食。每个人只依他的能力而受责成。不要使做母亲的为自己的婴儿而吃亏，也不要使做父亲的为自己的婴儿而吃亏。（如果做父亲的死了），继承人应负同样的责任。如果做父母的欲依协议而断乳，那末，他们俩毫无罪过。如果你们另顾乳母哺乳你们的婴儿，那末，你们毫无罪过，但须交付照例应给的工资。你们当敬畏真主，当知道真主是明察你们的行为的。

234.你们中弃世而遗留妻子的人，他们的妻子当期待四个月零十日；待婚满期的时候，她们关於自身的合理的行为，对於你们毫无罪过。真主对於你们的行为是彻知的。

235.你们用含蓄的言词，向待婚的妇女求婚，或将你们的意思隐藏在心里，对於你们都是毫无罪过的。真主已知道你们不久要向她们提及婚约，（故准你们对她们有所表示），但不要与她们订密约，只可说合理的话；不要缔结婚约，直到守制满期。你们当晓得真主知道你们的心事，故你们当防备他；并当知道真主是至赦的，是至容的。

236.你们的妻子，在你们未与她们交接，也未为她们决定聘仪的期间，如果你们休了她们，那对於你们是毫无罪过的，但须以离仪赠与她们；离仪的厚薄，当斟酌丈夫的贫富，依例而赠与；这是善人所应尽的义务。

And fear God, and know that God is aware of everything[At the time that you divorce women, and women have reached their term, either maintain them gently, by way of an alternative extricate them good-naturedly. But do not retain them to cause agony to them in addtion to take advantage of them. Anybody does that has in fact offended against himself. And do not take God’s explicit revelations on a joke. And remember God's extraordinary favor to you, and that He publicized to you enough the Word of God and Sagacity to instruct you. And be mindful of God, and know that God is exceedingly aware of everything].

232. When you divorce women, and they have reached their term, do not prevent them from marrying their husbands, provided they agree on fair terms. Thereby is advised whoever among you believes in God and the Last Day. That is better and more decent for you. God knows, and you do not know[Just at the time you split as well as divorce women, and women have reached their term, do not ban women from marrying their ex-husbands, only if they agree on fair terms, namely obtain a reasonable agreement. On the grounds of this is advised anybody in the company of you believes in God and the Last Day. That is more excelling and more straightforward for the purpose of you. God knows, and you do not unobjectionably make sense of].

233. Mothers may nurse their infants for two whole years, for those who desire to complete the nursing-period. It is the duty of the father to provide for them and clothe them in a proper manner. And be wary of God, and know that God is Seeing of what you do[And mothers may keep in existence to take care of their infants for two whole years, for those who desire to bring to an end the nursing-period. It is the duty of the infants' father to provide for them and clothe them in a presentable manner. No being shall be burdened in excess of his capacity. No mother shall be unjustly harmed as a consequence of her child, and no father shall be exceptionally offended by dint of his biological child. The same duty inhabits upon the heir. Taking into consideration the couple expect weaning, by means of mutual adjustments, agreements, they execute no mistake by means of doing so. And you make not any mistake by means of hiring nursing-mothers, only if you pay them sufficiently. And be mindful of God, and know that Merciful God is making an estimate of what you exert].

234. [In the matter of those among you who die and leave widows behind, their widows shall just wait by themselves for four months and ten days extra. In the act of they have borne their length of time, there is no blame on you in respect of what they might honorably do with themselves. And God is exceptionally made aware of what you are going to do.]As for those among you who die and leave widows behind, their widows shall wait by themselves for four months and ten days. When they have reached their term, there is no blame on you regarding what they might honorably do with themselves. God is fully acquainted with what you do.

235. You commit no error by announcing your engagement to women, or by keeping it to yourselves. God knows that you will be thinking about them. But do not meet them secretly, unless you have something proper to say. And do not confirm the marriage tie until the writing is fulfilled. And know that God knows what is in your souls, so beware of Him. And know that God is Forgiving and Forbearing[And you administer not any mistake by dint of announcing your joyful engagement to spouse, or by keeping it to yourselves. God has experience of that you will be thinking about women. In spite of that do not reach women secretly, excepting that you have something befitting to explain. And do not justify the arrangement sooner than waiting period expires. And has knowledge of that God knows what is in your innermost being, by doing this be mindful of God. And has knowledge of that God is extra Oft-forgiving and Considerate].*

236. You commit no error by divorcing women before having touched them, or before having set the dowry for them. And compensate them—the wealthy according to his means, and the poor according to his means—with a fair compensation, a duty upon the doers of good[There is just no blame resting on you on the occasion that you divorce women ahead of consummation or the fixation of their generous dower; and compensate women any kind of things befittingly, the well-to-do, money-spinning, befitting his own arrangement, and the exceptionally poor by means of his job-A fair compensation of a reasonable volume is an obligation upon the doers of good].*
