The Vishnu Purana

Preface 3. The Vishńu Puráńa

"That in which Paráśara, beginning with the events of the Varáha Kalpa, expounds all duties, is called the Vaishńava; and the learned know its extent to be twenty-three thousand stanzas." The third Puráńa of the lists is that which has been selected for translation, the Vishńu. It is unnecessary therefore to offer any general summary of its contents, and it will be convenient to reserve any remarks upon its character and probable antiquity for a subsequent page. It may here be observed, however, that the actual number of verses contained in it falls far short of the enumeration of the Matsya, with which the Bhágavata concurs. Its actual contents are not seven thousand stanzas. All the copies, and in this instance they are not fewer than seven in number, procured both in the east and in the west of India, agree; and there is no appearance of any part being wanting. There is a beginning, a middle, and an end, in both text and comment; and the work as it stands is incontestably entire. How is the discrepancy to be explained?

The Vishnu Purana

Preface 3. The Vishńu Puráńa

(In other words)
"That one in which Paráśara, first with the events and minutes of the Varáha Kalpa, expounds all duties, is generally under the name of the Vaishńava; the recognised scholar know its extent to be twenty-three thousand stanzas." The third Puráńa of the lists is that which has been agreed on for translation, the Vishńu. It is unnecessary therefore to offer any general assessments of its contents, and it will be appropriate to reserve any brief chronicles and remarks upon its character and probable antiquity for a subsequent page. And it may here be observed, however, that the actual number of verses contained in it falls far short of the definite statement of the Matsya, with which the Bhágavata concurs. Its absolute contents are not seven thousand stanzas.

The first name is green. The second and third names are brick red. And the last name is blue.

The Vishnu Purana

Preface 3. The Vishńu Puráńa

"That in which Paráśara, beginning with the events of the Varáha Kalpa, expounds all duties, is called the Vaishńava["Say in which Paráśara, beginning with the events and minutes of the Varáha Kalpa, explicates all of the goals, duties and jobs, is named the Vaishńava]; and the learned know its extent to be twenty-three thousand stanzas[and the exceptional person of letters observe its range to be around twenty-three thousand lines or fragments]." The third Puráńa of the lists is that which has been selected for translation, the Vishńu. Its actual contents are not seven thousand stanzas[The third Puráńa of the lists is that which has been singled out for deconstruction, exclusively named the Vishńu. On account of this it is unjustified to attempt as well as to offer any general roundup of its texts and ingredients, alongside it will be convenient to gather any opinions and statements upon its point of view and probable bygone days as being a next in order page. In contrast, it may in view of this be rigidly observed and judged, that the simple sum total of verses altogether contained in it falls exceptionally short of the briefing or statement of the Matsya, in agreement of said the Bhágavata gives backing to. Its unambiguous divisions are explicitly not seven thousand stanzas or fragments]. All the copies, and in this instance they are not fewer than seven in number, procured both in the east and in the west of India, agree; and there is no appearance of any part being wanting[All the copies of the subject, harmonise on seven at number, brought into existence both in the east along with in the west of India; and there is no rough outward of any part being unsatisfying]. There is a beginning, a middle, and an end, in both text and comment; and the work as it stands is incontestably entire. How is the discrepancy to be explained[There is a beginning, a middle, and also a finish, in both text, main matter along with wording; and the job the same way is kind of extraordinarily complete. How is the big disappointing discrepancy to be explained]?
