Hymn to the Nile
Translated by Paul Guieysse

Chapter I

Adoration to the Nile!
Hail to thee, O Nile!
who manifesteth thyself over this land,
and comest to give life to Egypt!
Mysterious is thy issuing forth from the darkness,
on this day whereon it is celebrated!
Watering the orchards created by Ra
to cause all the cattle to live,
thou givest the earth to drink, inexhaustible one!
Path that descendest from the sky,
loving the bread of Seb and the firstfruits of Nepera,
thou causest the workshops of Ptah to prosper!

給一切行走者以生命;
永不停息地澆灌著大地
沿著你從天國下降的旅程。
食品的珍愛者,賜予穀物的人,
普塔神啊,你給每個家帶來了光明!

Hymn to the Nile
Chapter I

(In other words)

Glory and adoration to the Nile!
Vociferation, respect, exclamation and commendation to thee, O north-flowing and godlike Nile!
who consistently manifesteth thyself right through the terrain of Egypt...

Glory and adoration to the Nile!
Hail to second to none and big name thee, O north-flowing and godlike Nile!

who outstandingly manifesteth thyself over this ground,
and comest to bring forward life to Egypt!
bewildering, fancy, unknown and undetermined is thy issuing forth from the darkness...

Glory and adoration to the Nile!
Hail to everlasting and big name thee, O north-flowing and godlike Nile!

who consistently manifesteth thyself above the lower and upper land of Egypt...

(Gathering the shaded letters above)
The first name of God is green. The second name of God and the third are brick red. And the last name of God is blue.

Chapter I

Adoration to the Nile[Glory and adoration to the Nile]!
Hail to thee, O Nile[Hail, bawling, exclamation and commendation to thee, O Nile]!
who manifesteth thyself over this land[who unobjectionably manifesteth thyself on top of this ground],
and comest to give life to Egypt[furthermore extraordinarily comest to bring off growth and life to the land of Egypt]!*
Mysterious is thy issuing forth from the darkness[Incognito and unfathomable is thy gushing beginning out of the underground],
on this day whereon it is celebrated[exactly on this day whereon it is further jubilant, famed as well as unexcelled]!
Watering the orchards created by Ra[Irrigating the orchards brought into being at the hand of Ra]
to cause all the cattle to live[and there's no denying it, of course to bring about on and on the cattle to exist and also augment],
thou givest the earth to drink, inexhaustible one[thou unobjectionably, timelessly offerest the globe to drink, inexhaustible and also immense water]!
Path that descendest from the sky[Road for to descendest beginning out of the abode of God],
loving the bread of Seb and the firstfruits of Nepera[Glorifying and bowing down to the real wholemeal bread of Seb and the excellent ripe fruitages of Nepera],**
thou causest the workshops of Ptah to prosper[thou unobjectionably promotest the workshops of Ptah to prosper]!***
