伊西斯通常都是以贤妻良母的形象出现在神话传说里，但她同时也是个拥有很多阴谋和野心的狡猾女神或者是一位令人畏惧的强大巫师，许多故事中都描写了她在进行自己计划的时候是多么诡计百出。人们普遍都认为伊西斯在所有神灵中拥有最强大的法力，因为她以知道数百万个神和精灵的真名与特性而著称。只要知道那个神或精灵的真名，伊西斯就能轻而易举的拥有了自由操控它的力量（真名的使用成为后来很多埃及魔法咒语的核心）。但是只有一位神的真正的巫术名字是她所不知道的，那就是她的祖父，年迈的众神之父—“拉神”。虽然伊西斯拥有一人之下万人之上的地位，可她并不满足。她仗着自身的强大魔力，将年迈拉神的口中所流出的唾液收集起来，然后在利用他的唾液混合泥土所捏造而成的毒蛇上施下使拉神陷入极度痛苦的魔咒，并使这条毒蛇在适当的机会获得生命。于是伊西斯就在拉神每日巡游的路上设下陷阱，当拉神路过陷阱时，毒蛇就突然活过来袭击拉神，从而使得拉神身中剧毒，瘫倒在床。众神都因为拉神唾液的神性而无方拯救拉神，于是他们便想到了被称为“魔幻女神”的伊西斯。拉神也知道女儿伊西斯特别有本事，就请她来帮忙清除自身体内的蛇毒，然而这一切正中伊西斯的下怀，伊西斯便趁火打劫，试图威胁拉神透露出他的真实姓名，声称不知道他的真名就无法帮他治疗。拉神并不愿意把自己的秘密说出来，因为他知道这会给予伊西斯凌驾于他之上的巨大能力，然而伤口的痛楚最终还是让他无法忍受从而妥协了，最终拉神体内的蛇毒被彻底清除了，伊西斯也如愿以偿，将拉神的神力完全转移到了自己身上，并强行剥夺了拉神的最高统治权而成为了诸神中权力和法力为最强大的女神。因为这则故事，伊西斯在中世纪欧洲也被人们尊为女巫宗师。

而伊西斯沿河上下焦急地(音帝)在多个不知(音之)名的地方找到了奥(含+)西里斯很不整齐(含中文两字)的13+1(即13块)部分。然后她比比划划地拼接了这14部分。其中部分英文可以是：Isis joined fragments of Osiris' body. 这里的“比划”谐音笔画(含+)，强调了这14部分实际上是中文的14笔画。
还有说，残肢是15块的。其意：英文名算一块，加上14笔画。
还有说，残肢是42块的。先将4与2分开。4之意：英文名算一块，三个中文字算三块。2之意：英文名算一块，中文名算另一块。

伊西斯的伊的右边是第一个字。西字中有个儿，是“小”的，这是中间的字。斯：用右半边取代左半边的上首，这是第三个字。*
而故事中，奥西里斯的生殖器没有找到之说，也印证了以上的解释。生殖器是三个汉字，它在人体中居中，相比其它13个部分，它是“小”的。
