Dealing With ConflictThere are many styles of contact that people have with one another when communicating during a conflict of sorts.They are: “Collaboration” and “Obliging”.
Collaboration is the win/win conflict management style. Individuals who choose this style seek an exchange of information.
Encourages creative thinking.
Rallies people to find solutions to complex issues.
Positive motivator in brainstorming or problem-solving sessions.
e.g. Let’s get several people from each department together and discuss the options.
Obliging places a high value on others but a low value on self, perhaps reflecting an individual’s low self esteem.
Deliberately elevate another person, making them feel better about an issue.
Useful if a manager is unsure of a position or fears a mistake has been made
Gives power to others and can build trust and confidence in others.
e.g. You’re the expert, what do you think?

Barking Up The Wrong
Treemeans making a mistake or a false assumption in something you are trying to achieve. The allusion is to hunting dogs barking at the bottom of trees where they mistakenly think their quarry is hiding.
e.g. He had nothing to do with the robbery - the cops are really barking up the wrong tree this time.
